New Delhi: Prominent musician Pandit Jasraj, 90, has passed away.  He breathed his last in New Jersey, USA.  Daughter Durga Jasraj confirmed the matter.  Jasraj was born on January 28, 1930 in Hisar, Haryana.

He has been instrumental in classical music for almost 80 years as a singer and music teacher.  He has received Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan awards for his services.  Leading musicians Sanjeev Abhayankar, Suman Ghosh, Trupti Mukherjee, Kala Ramanath and Bollywood singer Sadhana Sargam are his disciples.

President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi mourned Jasraj’s death.
